  • Tokyo Incident Farewell Concert 29 Feb 2012

It was so sad that Tokyo Incident disbanded finally.

Could not get its farewell concert ticket in Japan, but got a ticket of its satellite live concert in Hong Kong.

My first time watching a live concert in a cinema, very interesting. We felt strange to scream as we knew that the band won’t hear us at all.

We are there, but we are not there.

No matter what, we were still very very very excited. Ringo Sheena is definitely a goddess and the band was awesome.

Thanks Deadcat for getting the ticket and felt sorry for Jimmy as he only heard the last few songs of the concert.

  • Breakdown 20 Feb 2012

I caught a flu. My period came crazily. I woke up in a morning with my hand hurt.

My London flight was going to depart at night and I supposed to go to Stonehenge with Steph when I arrive.

After struggling and even crying the whole afternoon, I decided to report sick.

Luckily, Steph was very understanding. Sorry Steph for not coming to London again!

At night, my skin around my stomach started to turn itchy.

I realize it is my limit, I have to give my body a break from all the activities.

To face the problem, my Chinese massage treatment officially started on that day.

    Finger Crossed!

  • Valentine’s day in Singapore 14 Feb 2012

    It was totally a coincident.

I swapped in the Singapore overnight flight as I got no one to celebrate with in Valentine’s day. By chance, my brother was traveling in Singapore with his family. So, I got a chance to explore the city with my sister-in-law and my niece together.

I am not a fans of Singapore and I was not very interested to travel around Singapore. However, with my family, I joined a bus tour. It showed some of the most important spots in the city. You know? It is not my usual travel pattern, but I was willing to give it a try.

As expected, it was not very exciting. Yet I do treasure the time spending with Renee.

She was my sweetheart in this Valentine’s day.

After visiting Singapore for more than 10 times, it was my first time to visit Merlion.
It looked excellent with the skyline of Singapore as a background.

When we were taking photos of these famous hotels at Marina Bay, the laser show started suddenly. We were surprised.
The show is called Wonder full. It is the Southeast Asia’s largest light and water show.

It was a pretty long show. I am not sure how much light pollution and electricity waste it created.

We had a late dinner at China town and I got back to my hotel. An early morning flight back to HK next day.

Thanks for this special Valentine’s day! My little sweetheart!

  • New York with Polly 6 Feb 2012

Polly (my sister) is someone who belongs to New York City even before she visited it. Every time I was in New York, I hope she was there with me. Finally, after 5 years of waiting, she came with my flight.

I was very sick all the way, but I tried to put myself up to travel around with her. Thanks for taking care of me sis and bearing my sickness and mostly jet lag.

We only got 2 days in New York City, so we tried to maximize our day.

    Day 1

Our first day started with a very nice breakfast. As you all may know, my sister lives in Beijing and I live in Hong Kong, so we seldom got a chance to chat day and night, night and day. In New York, we caught up a lot.

We slowly walked along Central Park from the hotel to Metropolitan Museum.

I am not a big fans of museum with this scale, but it was nice to hang out with my sister in such a comfortable environment.

I was so attracted by the shadows of the art pieces. I even thought they are more beautiful than the piece itself.

This kind of taxi experience is essential. We are both fans of “Sex and the City”.

Here we came to Ground Zero. Different from my first visit here, now they have a new monument.

A very deep water monument with the name of victims in 911.

The orange of sunset is shining on the building.

We were walking toward the seaside and it got an amazing sunset.

We had a simple dinner and headed back to hotel as I was terribly exhausted.

    Day 2

We started our day in the observation desk at Rockefeller Center. It was the place that I really hope to show Polly even I had visited there.

All building looked like boxes and toys. New York, this is my impression of New York.

The unbelievable Central Park created the most special form of the city.

MOMA is just 2 blocks away from Rockefeller Center and they got discount if you visited both of them on the same day.

Revisiting MOMA is an enjoyment for me as I never get enough time to look at all the art pieces in one time.

    My year

With the audio guide, I got a really nice explanation of this piece this time.
The painting is talking about how you see the world when you are spinning in vales. Everything looks like fragments. From the painting, we could reorganize the images and guess what is actually around the dancers. It is a piece which is full of imagination and the romance of art.

Then, it is for sure the musical time. We bought the ticket at TKTS in the afternoon and went to the show at night.
Mary Poppins was not an excellent piece, but it is a classic. Kids seem to have a good time with its music and magic.

It was very very cold and rainy when we stepped out from the theater.

Polly is trying to fulfill her “The Smurfs” dream with the smoky ground of NYC.

When can we travel together again?

  • Orienteering 5 Feb 2012

    Veronica and I

Anton (my cousin) and I went to the orienteering event organized by my Spanish teacher- Veronica. I am totally an idiot in playing this game even I was a geography student in Uni. Anton was doing much better than I did.

I did not play the game well, but it was really nice to discover such a nice park in Mei Foo. I was always crossing the park when I change line in MTR, but I never know it is that nice to hang out there.

Thanks for spending the day with me, Anton!

  • Star Hunter Field 4 Feb 2012

Since YYCIS started to recruit a group of HKBU students to organizing the program Star Hunter, I had a great time working with these super energetic uni-students.

Star Hunter Field (a day camp) was one of the biggest event in the program. Everyone spent a lot of time and effort on preparing this (they worked until 3am sometimes). As a so-called adviser, I and other YYCIS members listened to their ideas and gave support to make things happen.

I was totally impressed with their creativity and passion. The activities they planned can serve the purpose of delivering the anti-light pollution message, at the same time, fun to play.

I wonder what could I do when I was in their age? Probably much less than them. I am so proud of you Star Huntersssss!

  • New York 26 Jan 2012

When my tango passion got too high, I would do nothing other than Tango.

This trip was a complete tango trip.

2 days in New York. One night Milonga at East Village, One afternoon Milonga around Soho area.

I did not know why, I had a really high expectation on the tango community in New York, but it turned out to be quite disappointing. I thought the tango experience in Chicago was too good to be true, so I properly got some false hope on New York.

Friday night Milonga at East Village- Milonga Rosa

It was a very fine day on my second day in New York. So, I decided to walk all the way from Brooklyn to Manhattan for the afternoon Milonga. It was more than 1.5 hours, but you know, I love walking anyway.

Every time I walked on Brooklyn Bridge, I can’t help missing Steph who was the very first person that walked this bridge with me. It was a very very cold Xmas.

Love to capture the people who walked on bridge, they are interesting.

I got hungry after arriving at Manhattan, so I went to China town for lunch. A hot soup noodles was nice in the cold weather.

Soft V.S Hard, Warm V.S Cold

The old and new building can be together in New York. Why not HK?

Passing Union Square, people were having fun on a Sat afternoon.

Finally reached the venue of afternoon Milonga after this long walk. Of coz, I bought a pair of earrings and a dress on the way.
Had fun dancing with a black guy in Milonga and he told me a lot about the tango community in New York. Also met another flight attendant from Italy who dance around the world as me.

It was not the best tango experience, but I got a taste of dancing tango in New York. Hope to dance at the outdoor Milonga at Central Park one day.

  • Chicago 16 Jan 2012

First time to Chicago, very cold, very windy. It is really a “Wind city”.

I was very upset before flying to Chicago.Natasha and I were facing the challenge of being kicked out from my building as she was yelling too much. I was tired of the situation, I was scared with the situation, I was guilty to Natasha.

Spent my first part of the stay at the hotel crying at the hotel room and then went out to meet Scott and Kelly.

I have not seen Scott for a long time, I guess since I broke up with Kyle (Scott was Kyle’s friend in HK). Not long after the broke up between me and Kyle, Scott moved from Hong Kong to Chicago for Kelly.

In a snowy afternnon, I took a train to downtown Chicago from the hotel I stayed.
I slowly walked to the Chicago Millenium Park to meet up Scott.

Scott is always on time. So, I just spent a little while with “the bean” before he showed up.

Here you came, Scott! Nice to meet you again after so long!!!

We walked along and caught up a lot about Kyle, about Kelly, about Jimmy and Cliff. Scott is a history book and newspaper. He was asking about some Hong Kong news that I do not even have time to follow. Scott knows a lot about HK even he is not living there anymore.

Then we spent about an hour in Chicago cultural centre (the old library). It is a historical building with Tiffany dome, beautiful stairs and floors with huge space for public events.

Kelly met us up there after work and we bumped into a protest on the street. Obviously, the cold weather did not cool the people down with their anger although I did not know what they protested for.

We had dinner together. I told Scott and Kelly about my situation with Natasha and they suggested me to look for some people called “Cat Sitter”. Thank you for the idea, it is working well now.

After dinner, we walked to the famous “Faces” together under the wind.

Say bye to Kelly and Scott, then I took a bus to search for my Milonga venue in Chicago.

I was walking on the empty street. It was very cold and it was a bit scary. I was telling myself that if I could not see anything when I walked to the next block as the address shown, I will give it up.

Then, I saw the light on with a Yoga center which show the name of the studio.

Here I danced tango with the dancer in Chicago. They are so far still one of the best and most friendly tango community I have met. They danced really well. To allow me to stay longer for the dance, they even offered to drive me back to the hotel. And so, I earn an hour more to dance in Chicago.

    How wonderful!!!!!

It worth so much with the cold and the search.

Hope to visit Chicago again on a warmer day. See you again, Scott and Kelly. Thank you and happy marriage!!!!!

  • Visit Esther 13 Jan 2012

  • Melbourne 9 Jan 2012

Time to meet Scarlett, WY, Jocie and Zacky in Melbourne again.
Spent a relaxing afternoon with Scarlett and the kids in supermarket and home. Jocie woke me up from my short nap by calling: Ball Ball E, wake up!!!!

Then WY got home and we had dinner together before heading to Philip Island to visit the penguins! WY’s brother WT was coming this time.

It was rainy on the way to Philip Island, we saw the rainbow.

    Philip Island

“Every sunset, wild little penguins emerge from the sea and waddle across the beach to their sand dune burrows. Phillip Island is home to one of the largest little penguin colonies in the world. The little penguin is the world’s smallest penguin species and the only penguin permanently found in Australia.”

When we arrived at Philip Island, the sun is about to set and we saw Penguins coming back home into groups. They were super super super cute. However, it was cold, rainy and dark, a bit hard to enjoy the moment with the penguins.

It was really fun to see them walking home from the beach with their big tummy though. haha!

Thanks WY and WT for taking me there. Finally, another checkpoint in Melbourne is gone.
